In celebration of Arbor Day 2023, the SAC and community members will hold a tree planting event at Hamlet Crest Park. The event, which begins at 9:30 a.m., will continue until 2:00 p.m. or until all 140 trees are planted. If you're interested in helping us plant, please click HERE to sign up.
Reforestation of turf grass areas is an imperative climate initiative in Chester County and especially in our township, which is designated as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. This pilot planting project may set the stage for more “pocket forests” throughout the township, as well as encourage residents to join in the Homegrown National Park® movement, a collective effort of individual property owners, public land managers, farmers, and anyone with some soil to plant in, to restore Earth's dwindling biological diversity by planting native plants and removing most invasive plants. The educational goal for the day is to teach residents how to turn a grassy area of their yard into a native garden.
