Dear West Goshen Residents and Businesses,

Spring is on the horizon, and I am looking forward to longer and warmer days ahead. As Board liaison to our Parks and Recreation Board, I can promise you that West Goshen has many wonderful community events planned this spring. I encourage you to check our calendar on the Township website, and to read our newsletter to stay up to date on all the fun happenings.

I am also pleased to share that our Township will be celebrating our first year as an official Tree City USA. This acknowledgement comes after years of preparation and pursuit. I would like to recognize our Board, staff, Township Manager, and our Sustainability Advisory Committee for their efforts in bringing this to fruition. Tree City USA distinguishes West Goshen as a community that cares for its trees, and for the health of its people. I am extremely proud of our Township for achieving this honor and hope to continue to pursue this recognition year after year.

Our community is growing in many ways. We have new neighbors to welcome, a new school, and new businesses moving in. Recently, our Board approved construction of an Aldi supermarket on Paoli Pike.

Although we continue to watch and be mindful of Covid-19 trends in our community, masks are now optional within the Township Municipal Complex and therefore at our public Board and committee meetings. I want to thank members of our community who have complied with these public health measures for helping us to get to a place where masks are no longer required. It is a much-needed respite at the end of a long winter.

Our Board had the opportunity to hear from representatives of West Chester Communities That Care (WCCTC), an organization dedicated to the prevention of drug and alcohol use within the youth and teen community. It is because of organizations like this that the very important topics of substance abuse prevention and mental health are at the forefront of our fight against addiction. In addition to this effort, the Board unanimously approved the construction of a modular structure at Chester County Hospital, which will provide additional emergency room beds. In the wake of the closures of Brandywine and Jennersville Hospitals, we must make necessary accommodations and improvements in order to provide the best care possible.

I wish you health and a prosperous spring, and I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding our Township. It is a pleasure to serve you as Township Supervisor.

Ashley Gagné
