Dear West Goshen Residents & Business Owners,
Deep into fall, I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather and have been able to take advantage of the many outdoor activities at this time of year. I am sure you are now in the midst of planning how to manage the various demands of the upcoming Holiday season, while still having to deal with what we all hope is the tail-end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is also a demanding time of year for West Goshen Township, as staff and the Board work through the detailed budget-setting process for 2022. There are many requirements to be met in providing not only the regular services to residents and businesses, but the necessary investments to maintain and upgrade the physical infrastructure of the Township. To provide just three specific examples: 1) we are beginning a new contract for trash collection at increased cost; 2) complying with our PA DEP Stormwater Permit includes new costs for operating the street sweeper; and 3) Federal aid received from the American Rescue Plan Act is being allocated to fund three significant stormwater management projects in 2022.
The Board of Supervisors will continue to review and discuss the preliminary budget at our November 16th and December 7th meetings, and finalize the budget at our regular meeting on December 21st. The preliminary budget materials are available for your review on the Township website. I strongly encourage you to participate in our budget deliberations by attending one or more of these meetings, as the Board really values receiving input from residents and business owners. If you are unable to attend and have comments or questions on the budget, please email them to Casey Lalonde, Township Manager - clalonde@westgoshen.org – Casey will provide them to Board members for consideration and response.
Wishing you a pleasant and restorative Holiday season.
Best regards,
Shaun Walsh
Chair, Board of Supervisors
West Goshen Township
