The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to supplement commonwealth and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Ida. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of Hurricane Ida. Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures throughout the commonwealth.
Residents and businesses can start the process now by either filing a claim online at www.disasterassistance.gov or calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). As you register with FEMA, a FEMA contracted inspector will contact you to set up an inspection of their residence. They will be carrying FEMA or a FEMA contractor badge. Please see the full declaration here.
