Join us virtually on the original Memorial Day as we hear from local historian Thomas Walsh who will speak on the history of the Chestnut Grove Cemetery. This cemetery was organized in 1862 at the corner of East Gay Street and Garfield Avenue in West Goshen Township. Learn about the cemetery's history as a burial place for Americans of black African heritage. As we virtually explore Chestnut Grove, we will discover that over 70 black Civil War veterans were buried in the cemetery.
