The West Goshen Police Department is excited to announce that the Junior Gumshoes Camp will be returning for the summer of 2021! The camp is open to 4th grade students entering the 5th grade in the fall of 2021. In this immersive camp experience students are introduced to an age appropriate mock “crime scene”. Everyday, officers from the WGPD Juvenile Unit along with special guests will be instructing students on how to collect and document evidence, dust for fingerprints and other investigative techniques. With the evidence they collect throughout the week, the students will be able to pinpoint a major suspect in the case and make an “arrest”.
On June 24, 2019, the West Goshen Police Department conducted their first-ever Junior Gumshoes Camp! The camp was offered as a trial to 22 fourth-grade students from Fern Hill Elementary School. Students were introduced to an age-appropriate mock “crime scene.” They were instructed on how to collect and document evidence, dust for fingerprints, and pour shoe molds. In the end, their hard work and determination paid off. With the evidence they collected, the students were able to pinpoint a major suspect in the case leading to an “arrest.” The kids were beaming with pride at their success. To end a great week at camp, all the children received a Junior Gumshoes certificate and an official letter from the Chief.
