The Park and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for Summer Counselors!
In January 2020, the West Goshen Board of Supervisors swore in two new supervisors. Both are long-term residents of the township and are hopeful about the impact they can make in their new roles.
Ashley Gagné describes herself as a “hometown girl”, growing up in West Goshen and attending Bishop Shanahan High School and West Chester University (WCU). However, her academic pursuits took her everywhere from exploring the geological wonders of Hawaii, to perfecting her command of the Russian language at Moscow State University. She is passionate about the environment and was WCU’s first sustainability intern. Her interest in sustainability is what fueled her desire to run for public office. Prior to her appointment, she initiated the West Goshen Sustainability Task Force. She hopes to champion green efforts as a supervisor and is very excited about the opportunity.
John Hellman’s interest in serving on the Board of Supervisors stems from having the time and desire to give back to the community where he and his wife have lived and raised their family for the past 33 years. John is a retired electrician of 38 years and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He has been a member of the West Goshen Planning Committee for two years and is eager for the opportunity to work with the staff and residents of the township. “I’m eager to show the residents that we are open to hearing ideas and sharing ours, and hopeful that we will be viewed as being an inclusive group,” said Hellman.
Together, the new supervisors have been visiting various township departments to deepen their understanding of the township. “We visited the police department, the public works department and others,” said Gagné. “Everyone has made us feel very much at home and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve the community.”
