The Sustainability Advisory Committee is currently working on several of the key initiatives we established at our first meeting in September 2020. They are:
Analysis of the township’s vehicle fleet towards the goal of transitioning over time to all-electric and/or hybrid vehicles.
With the Board of Supervisors, evaluating the feasibility of purchasing a standalone, solar-powered charging station that can accommodate up to six vehicles at a time.
Outreach to various municipalities and entities in support of reducing single-use plastics in the Township.
Collaborating with other committees and WGT staff to improve the Township’s ordinances regulating solar energy facilities.
Development of a tree ordinance in pursuit of a Tree City USA designation by the Arbor Day Foundation and conducting a tree canopy study as a component of this initiative.
Scouting locations for an urban community garden.
